MAIN ACTIVITIES

In photography activity which were carried out with two groups of children in the age range of 13 to 15, it was talked about the photographs that children took during one week after a basic photography training. In the cases that there were no proper occasions to transfer the things they want to express via photograph, they drew or animated what they want to tell and then photograph it

GROUP I

13-15 YAŞ: “We talked about that a dustbin must be in every toilet in schools because girls can be able to use it during their menstrual period . We had in our school so I wanted to take photo of it.”
13-15 YAŞ: "It is negative thing to see that Syrian children are walking with barefoot. (How do you feel when to see this?) I just feel sad, I do not feel more."
13-15 YAŞ: "We are getting annoyed due to these houses because there are many empty houses. All the thieves in the neighbourhood enter these houses. They even hit Syrian children( why “even”?). Since someone said the man entered one of the houses, he hit Syrian child ."
13-15 YAŞ: Our stairs are so long so we are getting tired until we come and go.
13-15 YAŞ: A positive thing. Our families put flowers to everywhere( They used everything, right? Youghurt pots, saucepots) Yes we are a neighbourhood that gives importance to recycling.
13-15 YAŞ: They are washing carpets. Children sometimes can fall down when they play ball. Here women are not let to wash carpets, men are washing because men think that others will see some parts of women.
13-15 YAŞ: "Birthday of young members is just celebrated in our home; we do not celebrate birthdays of older ones."
13-15 YAŞ:"There is not dressing room in classrooms. They hang dressing room writing on a random door, but they cannot dress there"
13-15 YAŞ: "They put garbage in an empty house, everything is put there."
13-15 YAŞ: "Neighborliness. Everyone comes there to drink tea. There are children as well."
13-15 YAŞ: "Here, children sit with their mothers in the street. "
13-15 YAŞ: "Animals live in trash. They try to find food from each trash. They benefit from garbage."
13-15 YAŞ:"Ground is very dirty. Fruit shells are on the floor. Children are also playing in the trash."

13-15 YAŞ:"Municipal workers was cleaning trash, another man helped them. It is a positive thing."
13-15 YAŞ:"It shows that our school’s garden is divided into two. Children just can use one door, they cannot enter from the other."
13-15 YAŞ:"It shows again that they divided our garden into two. One part is ours, the other Imam Hatip. They give privileges to students of Imam Hatıp. As their class population is 20, ours is 40. They made special toilets fort hem. "
13-15 YAŞ:"There is not any road and playing area. There are children and mothers. When children play their ball is going to any place, and it strikes old people."
13-15 YAŞ: "They closed our small space completely due to building site, so there is not playing area. Even our area is not hill, it is flat, children can play here, but they closed."

13-15 YAŞ:"They are playing and they have to stop their playing when cars are coming. Since they park their cars in the streets, children have to play in the middle. There is a baby and when motorbike passes from there, that baby cannot pass."
13-15 YAŞ:"They have to play football in the middle of the streets."
13-15 YAŞ:"There are not dustbin, so the smell is terrible."
13-15 YAŞ:"Children cannot play due to cars. They sit between cars."
13-15 YAŞ: "They park their car instead to make a sidewalk here. "
13-15 YAŞ: "Syrians generally do this work. There are not just Syrians there, also Turkish are working there.(Not just Syrians work in the bad conditions, but Turkısh people are also working in the same situations.) (You mean that they give too much importance to Syrians?) Yes, it can be. (Who are these according to you?) Very emotional people. Okay they can come to Turkey but Turkey already has a bad situation, how it will look after and find shelter to them? They will have worse conditions as you will see in Turkish. (Zehra: Turkish is also hungry but they arrange campaigns for Syrians.)"
13-15 YAŞ: "There is a short woman who tries to hang something but it is difficult for her. Her husband or children can help her but since she is a woman, this is done by her."
13-15 YAŞ: "These can be fallen on to someone who passes from there."
13-15 YAŞ: "They were putting water can here in order to not park their cars. It is ridiculous. (Will it be better if they put chairs?) No, but they can put the sign of no parking. (Poverty. Even doing no parking writing is related to money.)"
13-15 YAŞ: "Both it close the park and pedestrian place."
13-15 YEARS:"For example, there is not a bad thing about this church from outside. We are Muslims but we are neighbors and we have good relationships."

13-15 YEARS:"There are woods, in upstairs as well. They can fall on anyone passes from there."
13-15 YEARS:"There is a restaurant and they are parking in front of that. People sat there cannot see outside. Also, people passing there don’t understand that there is a restaurant. Even they realize that restaurant; it is difficult to go there."
13-15 YEARS:"There is environmental pollution even on the roofs. "
13-15 YEARS:"It causes to feel that it can fall on someone. (There are big accidents in other countries. We do not have such an accident, but it is possible to happen.) "
13-15 YEARS:"There is just one camera for security. I just saw camera here, there are not any cameras in anywhere. (Police said city surveillance cameras do not see here, when thief entered my aunt’s home. If there are cameras near grocers, the guilty person could be found.)"
13-15 YEARS:"I don’t want children to work. Why don’t mothers and fathers work? There can be poverty, but children work instead of learning literacy."
13-15 YEARS:"There is a man who normally women buy vegetables, now a man buys vegetables."
13-15 YEARS:"Our neighbors can trust us even there are not any security cameras. They leave the doors of building open. "
13-15 YEARS:"Cars are parked in both sides of the street. There is a parking place near here, not far away, but people Park here."
13-15 YEARS:"There is security problem here. If normally a few people will get injured in a car accident, here this number is about five or six. "
13-15 YEARS:"There is a street and the car is parked in the entrance. Child cannot pass from there."
13-15 YEARS:"The man is looking his phone when walking. He will not see if a car passes. Here is not, but ıf he had earphones, he could not hear honking sound. (Does telephone makes people busy, right?). I am wondering what they are looking too much."
13-15 YEARS:"A child can think that as a toy and climb on it. They should not park scoop over there. Those lifters can be for the urban transformation. They took people from their homes due to urban transformation, but they just did hotels. They said people that we will construct new homes for you. As they are doing two buildings, they more three hotels."
13-15 YEARS:"People who sell mussels throw the mussel shells into the street. It smells very bad. Also, they put on the floor, later we eat them(What can be a solution for that?) 13-15 YEARS:"I think I grow up better than many people when I see that frame because some new generation teachers engage with their phones in teacher’s room rather than being interested in their students. It is good for us when some teachers are interested with us. "
13-15 YEARS:"They bother people who live here. It is not clear who entered and neighbors are not comfortable with that situation. They can restore these buildings. ( Are there many abondened buildings here?) There were not before. They left empty those areas due to urban transformation. They don’t do anything right now. (You said it is not clear who enter here, what about crime rate? Since when it increased?). Yes, it especially increased this year. Now, there is too much crime, there was a crime every Sunday in the past, but now it is more quiet, they do secretly."
13-15 YEARS: "This is a road in the Taksim Square. There is a ruin near it. How do people walk across the street, there are cars."

13-15 YEARS: "They torture animals. They use animal names when insulting each other. This picture tells about animal love."
13-15 YEARS:"This is a narrow street and the half of the street is in the trash. They dump even here is a green area."
13-15 YEARS:"Syrians live in these houses. There is many trash in front of the door. There is not any place to hang their clothes. They tied rope from window. I want to show that they are in difficult situation. Mice come out from the holes. (Do just Syrians hang their clothes parallel to the wall?) Yes, we generally hang across windows. No body want clothes of Syrians. Also,because they always live in the ground floor, no one can walk across."
13-15 YEARS:"Black people generally live in the baselines, they work there. Sometimes they are called as “negro, hello”. There are dirty stones and they sit on them. (How are they with neighbours?). Very good. Every one loves this sister. Also. Reflexes of blacks are so good."
13-15 YEARS:"There is the same thing in all pictures that I have seen until this time; all walls have different colors. There are pinks, blacks, and writings on them. They colored walls directly when they see colors. Walls are colored differently in India and the crime rate diminished by 65%. Environment encourage people to change. "
13-15 YEARS:"It is environmental pollution. They throw out their trash even small places, there are cracks."
13-15 YEARS:"I took that as an illustration of Tarlabası and Syrians is seen everywhere. It is dirty, there is dust on the roofs. "
13-15 YEARS:"I took it when raining. Houses of blacks and Syrians were flooded last year since it was very raining. I aim to show that."
13-15 YEARS:"We should not throw away the garbage and keep the area clean."
13-15 YEARS:"I took this because ı like flowers very much. It gives me peace of mind to look at them."
13-15 YEARS:"I am so relieved thad i love flowers very much. I never see it on the street. That’s why ı brought home."
