Before the workshops which would be carried out in the scope of the project, meetings with each child participant’s parent, mother or father, were held in order to inform them about the purpose, method, practitioners and privacy principles of study; and their approvals were taken. Subsequently, a questionnaire was filled up in order to obtain information about the interviewee parent and her / his child who will participate in the project.
During these interviews, it was remarkable to see how parents declare their trust in TTM, how sensitive they are about the confidentiality of children’s sharings, photographs and names and them not to mention any disturbance about home even though they speak of their children’s negative thoughts about their environment.
Related to the trust relations which are still fragile with the families of Syrian Dom children, questionnaires which have private information were not filled up with them. Therefore these forms were filled up with only 80 children and their parents. Besides, since Syrian children did not allow video or voice recordings due to security concerns, these sessions were interpreted through taken notes.
At the end of the workshops, an informative meeting was carried out with the families. Results such as what children feel or think about the situations and behaviors that they have been through or have witnessed in their environment were shared by keeping children’s personal information confidential.
